Dobrze jest czasem zobaczyć znajome miasto przez czyjś wybór.
Anette i Steffen przyjechali z Norwegii i właśnie w Krakowie
postanowili wziąć ślub. Razem z nimi przyjechała rodzina.
16 lipca 2022 roku Sheraton Grand Kraków stał się miejscem
ich wspólnej historii.
There is something refreshing about seeing a familiar city through
someone else's choice. Anette and Steffen came from Norway and chose
Kraków for their wedding. Their family travelled with them.
On July 16, 2022, Sheraton Grand Kraków became the setting
for this chapter of their lives.
Przygotowania w Sheraton Grand Kraków
W tym reportażu lubię szczególnie sąsiedztwo zdjęć. Elegancki portret,
a zaraz obok chłopiec zajęty własnymi sprawami. Starannie przygotowany
stół i dłonie, które jeszcze próbują poradzić sobie z ostatnim
guzikiem.
miasta. Wisła, krakowskie dachy, przestrzeń. W szerokich kadrach
widać wybór Anette i Steffena: ślub tutaj, wysoko ponad codziennym
ruchem miasta, z rodziną zgromadzoną wokół nich.
Wracam jednak przede wszystkim do zdjęć zrobionych z bliska.
Steffen obejmujący dziecko. Twarze podczas ceremonii.
Uścisk, w którym elegancki garnitur przez chwilę musi sobie radzić
sam. Lubię, kiedy takie fotografie znajdują się obok tych
najbardziej uporządkowanych. Każda mówi coś innego o tych samych ludziach.
Anette i Steffen — reportaż z bliska

Getting ready at Sheraton Grand Kraków
What I particularly like about this reportage is how the photographs
sit together. An elegant portrait, followed by a boy absorbed in
something of his own. A carefully laid table and hands still working
on a final button. A dress in the window light, then Anette among
her loved ones. Together, these photographs begin to tell us
what the day was like.
The preparations give me time to get to know the people I will soon
be photographing at the ceremony. To see who helps whom, who looks
for a familiar face, and where the children have found a place
for themselves. Those early photographs change the way
I read the ones that follow.
A terrace wedding overlooking Kraków
On the terrace, there were plenty of reasons to turn the camera
towards the city. The Vistula, the rooftops, the open space.
The wider frames show the choice Anette and Steffen made:
to marry here, above the everyday bustle of the city,
with their family gathered around them.
Yet it is the closer photographs I return to most often.
Steffen holding a child. Faces during the ceremony.
An embrace that leaves the smart suit to fend for itself for a moment.
I like placing these photographs alongside the most composed ones.
Each reveals something different about the same people.
Anette and Steffen — a closer look
Photographing a wedding means meeting a family at a particular
moment in their lives. I begin with people I have never met;
a few hours later, I recognise their gestures and know whose face
to watch when something important happens. That familiarity
returns when I choose the photographs.
This is how I return to Anette and Steffen: through the people
I met in Kraków that day.
